There are a growing number of jurisdictions in Africa that license online gaming.

South Africa, one of the biggest economies in the African region, has recently revised its laws on online gaming. Until 2010, online gambling was legal in South Africa under the 2004 National Gambling Act. However, the act was reinterpreted to allow only sports and race wagering over the internet while banning online casinos and poker operations, a position that has been reaffirmed by subsequent court decisions even as policymakers continue to debate broader iGaming regulation.
